United clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Atl. VW were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. 23 minutes into the game, Atl. VW seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to poor. Many thought M. Barletta ought to have been awarded a penalty 32 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around T. Fredborg after a determined run through the middle. N. Boazar gave United the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in United's N. Boazar increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Atl. VW's T. Fredborg left the field after 42 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was E. Marvaldi. J. Koukonen unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. It was 2 - 0 at the break. United enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 75 percent of possession.

The Atl. VW players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a passable organisation when the game started again. United were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. United's D. Alony saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 75 minutes. United increased the lead as J. Koukonen struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. By now, the players in United felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. United solidified their lead at the 85 minute mark, as H. Winkler dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0. United's A. Dimov was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 86 minutes. United had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. A. Dimov remonstrated furiously with the referee after United had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by United, with 67 percent of the ball.

P. Zanc performed admirably for United. M. Meilenstein was a disappointment, however. Atl. VW's best player was P. Sánchez García. P. Babou on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.
