A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for GSV.
Lineup: Attazzo - Asta, Ceresato, Mansilla, Zorzon - Borredon, Marafini, Puppola, Battistella - Barbato, Costantini.
GSV demonstrated their creative tactics on the field.
After 6 minutes, GSV put themselves up 0 - 1, as
G. Battistella finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
15 minutes into the game,
D. Kellermann came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
After 16 minutes, GSV surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been.
After 17 minutes,
B. Thyquist made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1.
GSV had to make a substitution after 28 minutes.
M. Ceresato limped off the field and was replaced by
P. Penta.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Atletico claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Atletico's
G. Angioni tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
GSV's
A. Marafini got himself booked for a foul.
M. Gaye caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 74 minutes. This gave Atletico the 2 - 1 lead.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Atletico, with 58 percent of the ball.
Atletico's best player was
M. Gaye.
C. Porretti turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating GSV player was without a doubt
G. Barbato.
G. Battistella on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 1.
