The crowd of 12000 turning up at
SANTUZZO today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Roberto Salati was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Severin Rechsteiner and
Antonio Mauro.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for AC.FLORIDIA.
The following players had been chosen: Nesserberg - Wihall, Figueirinha, Álvarez - Kainz, Rubinský, Suárez, Aduasio, Lichý - Giannettino, Podboj.
LupoZeman had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation.
They fielded: Van Campenhout - Montefiori, Isnard, Sumiloff, Bananoia - Parino, Bais, Urbani Ulivi - Drieman, Mamos, Wojas.
LupoZeman saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
With 6 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
O. Bais put the ball away for 0 - 1.
B. Wojas came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
J. Nesserberg but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
F. Lichý's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
G. Giannettino was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for AC.FLORIDIA. 1 - 1.
M. Kainz was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
Z. Rubinský caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 21 minutes. This gave AC.FLORIDIA the 2 - 1 lead.
T. Podboj unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
With 31 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of LupoZeman resulted in a counterattack that set
G. Bananoia free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
After 32 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
F. Lichý might have resulted in another goal for AC.FLORIDIA. However,
J. Van Campenhout made a spectacular save.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
AC.FLORIDIA claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
M. Kainz had a fantastic opportunity to put AC.FLORIDIA up another goal 53 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
G. Urbani Ulivi's experience almost gave LupoZeman a goal after 65 minutes but the keeper made a great save.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 69 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
A. Sumiloff tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
J. Nesserberg's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from
E. Montefiori's shot from the left 75 minutes into the match.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in AC.FLORIDIA's
G. Giannettino increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
AC.FLORIDIA's
F. Lichý increased the lead to 4 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 82 minutes.
AC.FLORIDIA had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.
AC.FLORIDIA's top performer was clearly
T. Suárez.
J. Nesserberg was a disappointment, however.
LupoZeman's best player was
J. Mamos.
A. Sumiloff on the other hand, had a terrible day.
