previous 2/10 next 4/10  Sghino 6 - 0 Teggiano (381828501)

Clouds darkened the skies at SS Sghino Stadium as 14774 spectators turned up for the match. João Pedro Albuquerque was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hermann Lell and Juan Pablo Gave. Sghino tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Hackett - Tarp Sørensen, Sarna - Schirripa, Miilunpohja, Matute, Lokøy, Alvarez - Dahlern, Eirron, Waleveld.

Teggiano decided to use a 2-4-3 set up. Starters: Meiklejohn - Di Rosa, Yehiel - Andò, Kurasz, Rodighiero, Piccolini - Cracchiolo, Celi, Costea.

Teggiano were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. With 2 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as J. Lokøy flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Sghino's M. Alvarez struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 13 minutes. 16 minutes into the game, Teggiano had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. M. Alvarez increased Sghino's lead to 3 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. The players of Sghino now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Sghino claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

A review of the gameplan helped Teggiano get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. C. Schirripa's speed was clear to see after 60 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released J. Dahlern who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 4 - 0. A great save by keeper J. Meiklejohn after 66 minutes kept the visitors in the game after M. Tarp Sørensen struck from the left with a real cannonball. Cheers filled the stadium as L. Eirron broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Sghino. J. Sarna could have put Sghino up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 74 minutes. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. J. Dahlern squirmed through their central defence after 83 minutes, increasing the lead to 6 - 0. 87 minutes into the game, Teggiano seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. Sghino had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

A. Miilunpohja performed admirably for Sghino. However, M. Hackett made a disastrous appearance. Teggiano's best player was G. Rodighiero. A. Yehiel on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 6 - 0.
