Nottingamforest enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

After 47 minutes, P. Domingos Sousa sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected J. Schelvis's shot. Nottingamforest needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 71 minutes G. Costa made way for M. Rautava. F. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 74 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but P. Macagni got the best of it, blocking the shot from K. Wagemaker. M. Correia sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from D. Kammermann after 83 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 2. HellasVeronaAC1903 could have put themselves ahead after 84 minutes but G. Pogliani missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. HellasVeronaAC1903 took the lead 89 minutes into the game by 3 - 2, as J. Schelvis elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Nottingamforest claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
