14000 punters turned up at
Stadium Round, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Rudolf Schelbert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Per Stensson and
Cedric Green.
Panasaggi started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Lineup: Brescia - Baqui, Paillasson, 渡辺 (Watanabe) - Bradeško, Cavallera, Sierra, Bettelli - Troia, Barbacana, Mirabile.
MFC decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Nosewicz - Beutlin, Ilves, Martínez Peón - Bartl, Vlaicu, Serretti, Alocci, Gervasoni - Martineau, Bankó.
The wings were the focus of most of MFC's attacks today.
Panasaggi took the lead 2 minutes in, as
V. Cavallera broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as MFC's
P. Martínez Peón put the ball in the onion bag after 12 minutes to make it 1 - 1.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
F. Gervasoni from MFC a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 19 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
P. Bettelli gave Panasaggi the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Panasaggi, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
The visitors were awarded a penalty by the referee 66 minutes into the match, much to the anger of the home crowd.
K. Bartl took advantage of the situation and scored to make it 2 - 2.
The referee showed MFC's
E. Beutlin the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
75 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a MFC substitution.
I. Stoican came on for
F. Gervasoni.
They were singing the praises of
R. Sierra 76 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 3 - 2 to Panasaggi.
MFC's
S. Martineau was shown a yellow card after 77 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
80 minutes into the game, MFC seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
solid level of organisation.
After 83 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Panasaggi was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
A. Troia could have put Panasaggi up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 84 minutes.
85 minutes in, MFC appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
The head of
A. Alocci connected with a corner kick after 86 minutes, and the ball ended up with
P. Martínez Peón of MFC who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 3 - 3.
Panasaggi were very close to putting themselves one up after 87 minutes as
敬. 渡辺 (Watanabe) got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Panasaggi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
Panasaggi's best player was
V. Cavallera.
On the other hand,
E. Brescia's play was disheartening.
Most important MFC player was
M. Vlaicu.
Z. Nosewicz on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 3.
