30-06-2012 12.25
The 18876 fans in attendance at
Stadio Comunale di Taranto were roasting in the hot sun.
Marvin Poorter was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Francesco Paolinelli and
Falko Woesthoff.
Tarentum started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Bertè - Ávalos, Pinamonte, Huet - Ougier, Calda, Jasaň, Senior, Bech Jensen - Sambusiti, Schubot.
Red tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Lineup: Dision - Babo, Lazzara, Perronace - Gaias, Cieckan, Granata, Medano - Røed, Gualdi, Wilkman.
It was obvious that Red were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic.
After 9 minutes Tarentum's
L. Calda limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
E. Pinamonte's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
After 36 minutes,
B. Senior came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Tarentum the lead.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
C. Ávalos squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0.
Tarentum claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
The bench was restless, and with 56 minutes passed Red's coach gave
D. Castronovo the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
M. Perronace reluctantly left the field.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Red's
L. Gualdi was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 61 minutes.
Y. Anelli was given a chance to change things around.
Red needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 69 minutes
G. Cieckan made way for
G. Sansoni.
Tarentum's
B. Schubot saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 78 minutes.
Tarentum's
B. Schubot was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 80 minutes.
Red's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 88 minutes gone, but
G. Granata's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
B. Schubot remonstrated furiously with the referee after Tarentum had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
E. Pinamonte increased Tarentum's lead to 3 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Tarentum lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Tarentum had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
The most dominating Tarentum player was without a doubt
G. Sambusiti.
B. Senior was a disappointment, however.
G. Granata performed admirably for Red.
M. Medano on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 0.
