18-08-2012 12.50
Clouds darkened the skies at
Sbarciòkmel Stadium as 8315 spectators turned up for the match.
Raúl Montenegro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Reimo Halmetschlager and
Andrzej Kurek.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Sbarciòkmel.
They fielded: Falkenskär - Morzsa, Gümmer, Langnes - Økland, Spagnulo, Scoglio, Aguirre, Gavino - Della Mea, Vilaia.
Alcolica tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Gard - Lausberg, Porro, Foresti, Mastaglio - Raponi, Bernardelli, Comăneanu, Del Rosso - Picasso, Furlan.
The wings were the focus of most of Sbarciòkmel's attacks today.
For their match strategy, Alcolica had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Sbarciòkmel's
E. Økland was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
C. Della Mea managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 0 after 19 minutes.
The crowd was silenced 32 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
A. Comăneanu came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1.
With 37 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Alcolica resulted in a counterattack that set
F. Picasso free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
Sbarciòkmel's
T. Morzsa was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 42 minutes.
With 44 minutes gone,
F. Picasso suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Alcolica caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
Alcolica's
F. Raponi was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Sbarciòkmel's
E. Falkenskär went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Sbarciòkmel claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 64 minutes that gave the visitors the 1 - 2 lead. Despite the controversy,
F. Raponi struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
A tussle 70 minutes into the match resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and
J. Gavino put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 2 - 2.
D. Furlan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
L. Stame entered the game for Alcolica as the match clock showed 75 minutes.
J. Gavino was very close to giving Sbarciòkmel the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 81 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar.
Possession in this half belonged to Sbarciòkmel, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
Sbarciòkmel's best player was
A. Scoglio.
However,
E. Falkenskär made a disastrous appearance.
F. Picasso performed admirably for Alcolica.
F. Lausberg on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 2.
