Clouds darkened the skies at Twelve Colonies Stadium as 9293 spectators turned up for the match. Gösta Hokkanen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Adrien Buffard and Julio Bensasson. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Galactica. Starters: Cappelletti - De Milato, González Chacín, Petruch - Vale, Fernandes, Niccolini, Neher, Mochalovskiy - Ferrari, Eneflod.

Bambini decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Bibbò - De Luca, Merlini, Pascuzzi - Bagnolo, Scimeca, Sposetti, Fiorini, Goze - Gajewski, Boderskov.

Bambini used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 0 - 1 was the score with 2 minutes played, after A. Fiorini cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Bambini. With 19 minutes played, G. De Luca of Bambini fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. A. Mochalovskiy was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Galactica with a strike from the left, but A. Bibbò managed to ward the shot off for a corner. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by M. Neher. At last, Galactica's G. Niccolini was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 1. Slack defending gave Galactica a chance to take the lead with 34 minutes played, but A. Mochalovskiy's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to M. Vale, but the Galactica player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Galactica had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Bambini were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. The visitors didn't give in and, after 59 minutes, G. Sposetti got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. The guests took the lead 63 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in G. De Luca scoring to make it 2 - 3. Galactica were awarded a penalty with 75 minutes played, and N. Eneflod made no mistake as he effortlessly slotted the equaliser home. 3 - 3. There was concern in the stands when, at the 77 minute mark, Bambini's G. Scimeca hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Bambini's G. Scimeca could have put the guests one up after 80 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but F. Cappelletti was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. At 81 minutes played, V. Ferrari came in from the right with the intention of giving Galactica the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Possession in this half belonged to Galactica, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Galactica's best player was N. Eneflod. However, A. Mochalovskiy made a disastrous appearance. Bambini's top performer was clearly M. Gajewski. A. Bibbò turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 3.
