Ishanter 3 - 2 Hornettosi (382011063)

Clouds darkened the skies at Ishanter Stadium as 8404 spectators turned up for the match. Sammy Massner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Leroy Kamminga and Einer Fredgaard. Ishanter decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Belardo - Cirinei, Mauriello, Goudet - Perricone, Mazzolo, Venerucci, Daloiso, Pantile - Corradini, Umano.

Hornettosi tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Falco - Pacior, Thorlind, Jongeneel - Zuliani, Beer, Stanmore, Caçapava, Facciolo - Seifert, Casoni.

Ishanter took the lead 7 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as V. Corradini elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 17 minutes into the game Hornettosi's I. Pacior found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to M. Mauriello, but the Ishanter player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! Ishanter's N. Mazzolo saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 30 minutes. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ishanter, with 66 percent of the ball.

M. Thorlind behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 52 minutes as he gave the ball away to L. Umano. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Ishanter scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for M. Mauriello after 66 minutes. The away team improved the scoreline to 3 - 2, as V. Seifert struck home, set up well by a play on the left 70 minutes into the match. Ishanter's D. Goudet had an excellent opportunity after 75 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! A. Perricone should probably have put his team up another goal after 83 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by V. Falco kept the visitors in the game. Ishanter enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

The most dominating Ishanter player was without a doubt V. Corradini. R. Belardo turned in a dismal performance, however. M. Casoni performed admirably for Hornettosi. On the other hand, M. Thorlind's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
