Clouds darkened the skies at
Flames Stadium as 12999 spectators turned up for the match.
Arndt Baerensprung was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Miguel Barbacana and
Miika Karhu.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Lombardia derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
Flames tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Breitkreuz - Hallbauer, Klanglius, Lambinon, Otondo - Mottola, Færgemann, Haragoş - Rivas, Kruijs, Lara.
Lupor started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Mehring - Macello, Pirillo, Libero, Cortelazzo - Bossone, Kaçiu, Rossanigo, Zuin - Aquilonia, Tinto.
They were singing the praises of
T. Rivas 2 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Flames.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Flames's
Y. Kruijs increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Flames solidified their lead at the 36 minute mark, as
Y. Kruijs dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
Flames increased the lead as
N. Lara struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Flames, with 76 percent of the ball.
Flames's
D. Mottola struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 5 - 0 after 63 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Flames's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
V. Macello of Lupor was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
With 66 minutes played, Flames put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Y. Kruijs, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Y. Kruijs.
An accurate cross from
B. Zuin of Lupor was met with a wonderful glancing header from
M. Aquilonia, hitting the inside base of the post before nestling into the back of the net for 6 - 1.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
D. Mottola squirmed through their central defence after 81 minutes, increasing the lead to 7 - 1.
82 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
E. Klanglius broke through, making the score 8 - 1 for Flames.
Cheers filled the stadium as
F. Haragoş broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 9 - 1 to Flames.
Flames had most of the ball, with 80 percent of possession.
Flames's top performer was clearly
Y. Kruijs.
T. Lambinon turned in a dismal performance, however.
M. Aquilonia performed admirably for Lupor.
However,
O. Mehring made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 9 - 1.
