previous 10/10 next 2/10  M.J.Z. 0 - 7 SMK FC (382045134)

7386 spectators had come to M.J.Z. Arena this cloudy day. Christian Göransson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fedor van Harsselaar and Pablo Rodríguez. M.J.Z. tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Reviglione - Mereta, Cordone, Demoro, Lion - Di Dato, Arghittu, Negro, Ciaralli - Bonasio, Burli.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for SMK FC. The following players had been chosen: Peniche - Tallarita, Mencattini, van Aalderen, Carvalho Santos - Guerry, Koncewicz, Danielsson, Giraldo - Enkvist, Rufo.

SMK FC took the lead 2 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. D. Enkvist was the scorer. The home keeper was stunned 16 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by A. Guerry and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 2. The visitors' S. Rufo took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 17 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for SMK FC. 19 minutes into the match, a typically brave header by S. Rufo from E. Giraldo's cross looped just over the opposing goalkeeper's desperate reach. Goal for SMK FC, making the score 0 - 4. Confident in their lead, SMK FC's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. S. Mencattini increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 5. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. SMK FC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

After 53 minutes SMK FC's S. Mencattini contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. S. Mencattini of SMK FC took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 60 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6. SMK FC had to make a substitution after 61 minutes. E. Giraldo limped off the field and was replaced by G. Tolloi. 63 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 7 as S. Rufo finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for S. Rufo. Possession in this half belonged to SMK FC, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

The most dominating M.J.Z. player was without a doubt A. Bonasio. A. Reviglione turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important SMK FC player was D. Enkvist. J. Peniche was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 7.
