Dark skies made the crowd of 5550 at Real arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for serio. The following players had been chosen: Malevolti - Morini, Tomba, Comparini, Tapparello - Cogoli, Sciarratta, Guglielmino, Pannocchi - Salvucci, Stagnaro.

Slack defending gave serio a chance to take the lead with 3 minutes played, but S. Morini's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. After 4 minutes, the defensive line of STAM created a counterattack through the middle that gave P. Morone a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. 5 minutes into the game, L. Andresano had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. serio's F. Pannocchi had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 16 minutes having been played. S. Gritti was the replacement. M. Bera behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 34 minutes as he gave the ball away to B. Salvucci. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. 38 minutes in, serio's E. Tomba received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Making his way up the middle 39 minutes into the match, S. Morini almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert F. De Carlo blocked it to keep the score level. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. serio had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

serio's S. Gritti was shown a yellow card after 53 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 57 minutes into the game, L. Gravina was a hair's breadth away from giving STAM the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by C. Malevolti saved the home team that time. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, M. Stagnaro scored for serio putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 58 minutes. serio's B. Salvucci saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 75 minutes. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 76 minutes, serio did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, P. Cogoli was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to serio, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

serio's best player was P. Cogoli. C. Malevolti was a disappointment, however. Most important STAM player was P. Morone. However, F. De Carlo made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
