The crowd of 1833 turning up at A.s Tropea Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Arndt Baerensprung was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Awad Bin-Ibraheem and Detlef Christiaens. Tropea had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Gaudio - Musa, Banelli, Di Pace, Melato - Pozzetto, Archino, Montanaro, Bettoni - Magnaterra, Bologni.

Villacanale started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Sodano - Bartolacelli, Olivato, Corradi - Gherarducci, Cicero, Grassivaro, Musumeci - Aghemo, Bisi, Carnevali.

Villacanale clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Tropea made it 1 - 0 as R. Bologni got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to G. Archino who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Tropea's P. Melato had an excellent opportunity after 35 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! P. Montanaro did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. The visitors refused to give in and, after 39 minutes, R. Cicero evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1 P. Gaudio looked great 42 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' W. Corradi. With 43 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. M. Gherarducci put the ball away for 1 - 2. It was 1 - 2 at the break. Villacanale claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

63 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as G. Bisi finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Possession in this half belonged to Villacanale, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

The most dominating Tropea player was without a doubt D. Magnaterra. P. Gaudio turned in a dismal performance, however. A. Musumeci performed admirably for Villacanale. M. Sodano on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 3.
