Massimessi 7 - 2 Benares (382114780)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1921 had shown up at Massimessi76 for the match. Jörgen Tuvling was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tudor Dumitrescu and Mario Di Fazio. Massimessi had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: El-Aïssaoui - Carlucci, Mantione, Pommersche - Shtylla, Novati, Gaverini, Poyancos - Farkas, Miller, Ruiz.

Benares tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Negrini - Di Gaetano, Myrtollari, De Gregori, Zaghis - Saba, Pistone, Moraglio, Nannoni - Caldana, Vâlceanu.

Massimessi displayed their ability to play creatively. The crowd groaned its disapproval when E. Mantione missed a free kick that would have given Massimessi the lead after 13 minutes. Benares's F. Nannoni finished emphatically to make the score 0 -1 after 16 minutes, after the enigmatic G. Negrini pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. 23 minutes into the game, Massimessi seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. L. Saba of Benares seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by P. Di Gaetano. Massimessi's F. Gaverini cut towards the middle after 40 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 2. After 40 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Benares's A. Pistone being carried off the pitch and replaced by L. Berlinghieri. G. Farkas showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 41 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. At 43 minutes played, S. Pommersche came in from the right with the intention of giving Massimessi the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. A questionable penalty 44 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 3 - 2. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as E. Mantione knocked the ball home. 44 minutes in, Massimessi appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor. 3 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Massimessi, with 76 percent of the ball.

During the break, Massimessi's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organisation. Massimessi were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 56 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by E. Mantione. 4 - 2 for the home side. After 64 minutes, G. Farkas put Massimessi ahead 5 - 2 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. 69 minutes into the game, Massimessi had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. A. Carlucci neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to F. Gaverini who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Massimessi scored another to make it 6 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for E. Mantione after 82 minutes. That made three goals for E. Mantione and he was marked down for the hat trick. After 85 minutes, Massimessi sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached H. Shtylla, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 7 - 2. After this, you could see that the players of Massimessi were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. E. Mantione could have increased the lead after 86 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Massimessi's C. El-Aïssaoui had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 87 minutes having been played. N. Atıfa was the replacement. After 88 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Massimessi found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to weak. Massimessi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.

Y. Ruiz performed admirably for Massimessi. However, T. Poyancos made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Benares player was without a doubt A. Caldana. L. Berlinghieri was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 2.
