Atletico 1 - 2 Touch

It had rained all day, but 6631 hardy fans still made it out to TAMBERLO Park. Anders J. Wedner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bertil Gullholt and Jared Spain. Atletico tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Carbona - Dal Rio, Gandini, Geat, Carsughi - Coda, Gazzera, Morello, Onnis - Floridia, Foto.

Touch decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: De Marco - Furnari, Lanzafame, Bramuzzo, Visconti - Racca, Albiero, Olcese, Marveggio - Coroneo, D'Annunzio.

Many thought A. Foto ought to have been awarded a penalty 21 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around G. De Marco after a determined run through the middle. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit G. Gazzera just fine. The guests took the lead 33 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in D. Racca scoring to make it 0 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Atletico, with 70 percent of the ball.

With 53 minutes played, after a good run down the left, N. Geat went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. The rain made it hard for players like M. Marveggio to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. No matter how hard he tried, C. Gandini just couldn't get his shot past the visitors' right side defence after 64 minutes. S. Bramuzzo stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Touch the goal to make it 0 - 2. Atletico reduced the lead to 1 - 2 with 68 minutes on the clock when M. Carsughi got the best of a ball floated in from the left. Atletico claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

Atletico's best player was A. Morello. J. Carbona turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Touch player was without a doubt L. Coroneo. On the other hand, M. Marveggio's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
