Clouds darkened the skies at ALMUS BEER as 43394 spectators turned up for the match. Stanisław Marciński was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dymitr Plichta and Edmund Sule. POLOMIE had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. Lineup: Çaba - Czank, Takó, Eggan, Chergov, Gansempan - Kostadinov, Rangelov, Petrinski - Dohot, Pieren.

Squadra decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Vasilev - Lamont, Klevenz, Negoiţă - Houot, Nogueras, Bashliev, Andresakis - Cholakov, Zanirato, Donev.

POLOMIE were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Squadra tried to focus their attacks down the middle. After 19 minutes, the defensive line of Squadra created a counterattack through the middle that gave L. Donev a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. A penalty was given after 23 minutes, allowing the visitors to gain the lead: 0 - 1. G. Lamont was the scorer. It was obvious that team Squadra had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. G. Lamont received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 27 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Squadra fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After 29 minutes, Squadra's L. Donev fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! It was 0 - 2 at the break. Squadra had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

V. Bashliev dispatched a majestic long shot 56 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as V. Rangelov tried lifting the ball over keeper E. Vasilev. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Squadra, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 70 minutes, Squadra's A. Cholakov burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Squadra lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 71 minutes into the game POLOMIE broke through on the left wing and E. Kostadinov managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 3. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Lamont from Squadra a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 75 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Squadra were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Ş. Negoiţă came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over P. Çaba but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. POLOMIE almost scored after a swift counterattack 85 minutes into the game, but M. Dohot put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. Squadra claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Most important POLOMIE player was R. Pieren. P. Çaba was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Squadra player was without a doubt L. Donev. E. Vasilev turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
