The 52512 spectators at Antrax Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Carlo Fiorentino was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Zebulón Zercalde and Mikael Fjelander. Vranjak decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Nielsen - Krassenburg, Vasilev, Bánföldi - Alix, Toholj, Mattinen, Gusmik, Együd - Balboa, Takounaras.

Hajduk had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Angarita - Vejvoda, Sălăgean, Bruvoll - Pyatigorskiy, Scherbauer, Badiu, Šperka, Huibers - Ribar, Kupusović.

With 5 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as T. Balboa flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Vranjak put in a good effort on the right, but N. Toholj saw his volley fly wide of the mark 6 minutes into the game. The sun seemed to put N. Toholj in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. T. Balboa almost put Vranjak ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Vranjak scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for S. Takounaras after 18 minutes. R. Gusmik should probably have put his team up another goal after 27 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by A. Angarita kept the visitors in the game. Hajduk's opponents know to be wary of D. Kupusović's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 28 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Vranjak, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.

The corner kick from I. Sălăgean was powerfully met by the head of M. Ribar to make the score 2 - 1. Vranjak put themselves up 3 - 1 when R. Krassenburg broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The Vranjak players could smell victory in the air. R. Krassenburg wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Q. Vallot after 60 minutes. Q. Vallot became the new Vranjak captain. J. Alix left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. V. Bolić was the replacement. T. Balboa wanted to play on, but the Vranjak coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by M. Clephas. Vranjak increased the lead as J. Mattinen struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, V. Pyatigorskiy got himself booked. The manager of Hajduk was not happy. Cheers filled the stadium as V. Együd broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 1 to Vranjak. Confident in their lead, Vranjak's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. N. Huibers found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. The visitors replied 81 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 5 - 2, as J. Bruvoll dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. Vranjak had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

N. Toholj performed admirably for Vranjak. However, R. Nielsen made a disastrous appearance. Hajduk's best player was D. Kupusović. A. Angarita turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 2.
