28-07-2012 13.30
A scorching day at
Sehidi Bosne, where 46459 spectators were in place for today's match.
Bonifacas Gvezdauskas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Filip Werner and
Arturo Perez.
People from all over
Zenica had joined up for the derby.
Astral had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Halberg - Machnačas, Pisont, Pomogaev, Di Cristofano - Ellis, Voloshin, Gašić, Predojević - Akça, van Houdenhove.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for HOYSI.
The following players had been chosen: Kamberger - Małecki, Ackermann-Fruehauf, Lapostolle, Laher - Heyden, Gil de Gibaja, Vihersalo - Zalega, Weicht, Zauritz.
Astral mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
HOYSI clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
HOYSI were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Down the middle came
C. Zauritz, making a fantastic play that nearly had HOYSI take the lead after 14 minutes, but
V. Halberg preserved the tie.
The Astral free kick 15 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
V. Voloshin, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 0!
Astral's
J. van Houdenhove had an excellent opportunity after 24 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
After 31 minutes, Astral's
J. van Houdenhove found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2 - 0.
With 32 minutes played,
X. Heyden had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot flew harmlessly into the side-netting of the goal.
The score became 3 - 0 at 33 minutes into the game, when Astral were given a penalty which
J. van Houdenhove blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Astral enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
The intense heat forced
C. Di Cristofano into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others.
After 60 minutes, HOYSI used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach.
The HOYSI coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy.
The HOYSI players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
J. Małecki found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
It was obvious that team Astral had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
Astral's
C. Di Cristofano increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 71 minutes.
S. Akça should probably have put his team up another goal after 73 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
F. Kamberger kept the visitors in the game.
HOYSI showed their counterattack skill 74 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
D. Gil de Gibaja scoring uncontested for 4 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by HOYSI, with 55 percent of the ball.
Astral's best player was
S. Akça.
However,
C. Di Cristofano made a disastrous appearance.
C. Zauritz performed admirably for HOYSI.
F. Kamberger on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 1.
