previous 2/10 next 4/10  Virusi 0 - 8 Solari (382638312)

The 12000 fans in attendance at Bilimisce were roasting in the hot sun. Jochem Oeben was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Morten Raaz and Moisis Tsoukalis. Virusi tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Vejsić - Metlaš, Šešlija, Radojčić, Kusur - Dubošlić, Laleta, Baždarević, Baličević - Ðorđević, Bjegović.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Solari. The following players took the field: Terzić - Halvadžić, Valčuna, Stolberg, Zhuczenia - Lukeš, Vukojević, Puttkamer, Felices, van Erp - Bădescu.

It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why A. Bădescu found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. The visiting F. Felices was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 14 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Some fine movement on the left led to a Solari goal after 17 minutes, making it 0 - 2. V. Zhuczenia was noted down as the scorer. With 23 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed J. Lukeš of Solari to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. The players of Solari now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. After 26 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Bădescu who increased Solari's lead to 0 - 4. A drive down the left side allowed J. Stolberg to get in close and score another goal for Solari after 36 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 5. Halftime score was 0 - 5. Solari had most of the ball, with 80 percent of possession.

47 minutes in, Virusi's D. Laleta received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. M. Halvadžić increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 6. Virusi's M. Dubošlić refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 65 minutes. With 67 minutes played, Solari's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to A. Bădescu he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 7. Solari's S. van Erp was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 69 minutes. Virusi's M. Dubošlić had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 71 minutes having been played. J. Negulić was the replacement. J. Stolberg fired a shot from distance after 73 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Solari. J. Stolberg could have put his team up another goal 79 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. After 82 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave D. Vukojević a chance to increase the lead for Solari, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 8. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave D. Ðorđević from Virusi a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 84 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Solari claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 77 percent.

Virusi's best player was D. Baličević. F. Vejsić turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Solari player was A. Bădescu. However, D. Terzić made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.
