The 76376 fans in attendance at
zvajkomobil arena were roasting in the hot sun.
Anders Beckgård was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kim Lubbers and
Walter Glaser.
zvajko decided to use a 5-3-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Cosmescu - Zillissen, Mislej, Lysgård, Tóth, Opačak - Weitzer, Cervera, Nymark - Saalaste, Adnet.
Sporting had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
Lineup: Carnicer - Škerl, Bečaj, Šegulja, Jambrošič, Cigelšek - N'Da, Erman, Fornes - Kusaj, Maze.
For their match strategy, Sporting had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
N. N'Da found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
zvajko's
R. Lysgård tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Given a free kick close to the byline, zvajko tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
J. Saalaste slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 25 minutes into the game.
It was 1 - 0 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to zvajko, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 58 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but
M. Carnicer got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar.
59 minutes into the game Sporting managed a counterattack, but
N. N'Da took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
A counterattack by Sporting after 67 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
E. Erman, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
J. Saalaste. At last, zvajko's
R. Lysgård was able to backheel the ball in. 2 - 0.
C. Cervera unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
M. Adnet sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
S. Nymark after 81 minutes of play, making the score 3 - 0.
S. Nymark struck a 30 metre free kick home 86 minutes into the match. 4 - 0 for the home team.
By now, the players in zvajko felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
zvajko claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
zvajko's best player was
M. Adnet.
However,
V. Mislej made a disastrous appearance.
Sporting's top performer was clearly
M. Škerl.
M. Carnicer on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 0.
