28-07-2012 13.20
Clouds darkened the skies at
Martinov Hram as 53388 spectators turned up for the match.
Henrik Hagelblom was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gottbert Barrios Casalino and
Roberto Morelli.
Zeleni decided to use a 5-4-1 set up.
Lineup: Beckers - Flemming, Vestby, Bălan, Halla, Poortman - Dalsgaard, Klima, Buchmann, Benjamin - De Penarande De Franchimont.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for FC Bilbao.
Starters: Tama - Raciti, Van Hee, Saare - Vidal, Broe Nielsen, Mišmaš, Karitskiy, Hakhamanesh - Borne, Joniec.
The wings were the focus of most of Zeleni's attacks today.
It was obvious that Zeleni had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
C. Buchmann scored for Zeleni putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 14 minutes.
J. Joniec made a run for the goal 29 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end.
FC Bilbao's
J. Borne got himself booked for a foul.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Zeleni, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
With 36 minutes played, Zeleni put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
M. Benjamin, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
The referee showed FC Bilbao's
R. Karitskiy the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Zeleni managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
J. De Penarande De Franchimont cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
FC Bilbao had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
FC Bilbao will have to do without
R. Mišmaš for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 56 minute mark. He was substituted by
S. Vandis.
The crowd roared its approval when
G. Beckers somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by FC Bilbao's
S. Vandis 64 minutes into the game.
J. De Penarande De Franchimont increased the lead for Zeleni to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Zeleni scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
O. Dalsgaard after 72 minutes.
After this, you could see that the players of Zeleni were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
FC Bilbao claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
O. Dalsgaard performed admirably for Zeleni.
G. Beckers turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating FC Bilbao player was without a doubt
J. Joniec.
P. Tama was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 5 - 0.
