Purple 1 - 2 Turutas
(382886109)

16-06-2012 14.00
Due to an all-day shower, 45618 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
Templo del Humo.
José León was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Urban Gangell and
Pierre Nédélec.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Purple.
Lineup: Velasco - Osorio Rojas, Brčić, Hulthin - Leplat, Scarpelli, Benavent, Berriolo, Aso - Gervasoni, Barros.
Turutas had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Mato - Verrept, Navarro, Corujeira - Helzenlichter, Murillo, Benages, Alagón, Huibregtse - Fournier, Kalle.
Thighs bulging,
V. Benages charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain.
A. Murillo of Turutas seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
C. Huibregtse.
Turutas's
K. Helzenlichter was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
H. Kalle managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 2 after 26 minutes.
The coach of Turutas was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 27 minutes,
E. Delle Fave came on for
B. Fournier.
A. Scarpelli messed up a penalty shot after 32 minutes, the ball going miles wide.
H. Kalle came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
P. Velasco but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Halftime score was 0 - 2.
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed Purple's coach gave
R. Oberkleen the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
J. Aso reluctantly left the field.
With 60 minutes played, the Purple coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
Z. El-Edwan came on,
B. Brčić had to leave the fray.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
Z. El-Edwan.
It took several tries, but Purple managed to break through on the left after 79 minutes, getting the ball to
E. Benavent who easily reduced the lead to make the score 1 - 2.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Purple, but
R. Oberkleen's shot went over the bar.
85 minutes into the match,
J. Verrept came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
The home crowd cheered when, after 88 minutes,
E. Delle Fave's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
The most dominating Purple player was without a doubt
E. Barros.
On the other hand,
A. Osorio Rojas's play was disheartening.
Turutas's best player was
V. Benages.
E. Delle Fave was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
