The move caught everyone off-guard, including his teammate, who panicked and kicked the ball out of play by accident. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 41 minutes played, M. Kalliomäki of Polgas made the score 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Polgas claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

After a fine move down the middle G. á Lakjuni nearly gave the home side a goal after 60 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. The visiting T. de Sá was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 61 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. D. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Artesanos coach let U. Daugaard replace D. Duisterwinkel after 83 minutes. The referee showed Artesanos's D. Augustowski the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Polgas's D. Maltortel went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. After 89 minutes, Polgas switched G. á Lakjuni with B. Minks, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, P. Butterfield took over the role of being the Polgas captain. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Polgas, with 55 percent of the ball.
