Vodka 2 - 1 ATLETICO (382888777)

The 51082 spectators at Lars Olsson Smith were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Miguel Rego was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kars van den Berge and Wilbert Heideman. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Vodka. They fielded: Osorio Castro - Hulin, Mofolo, Hveem, Quang Long - Mota, Zimmermann, Ribeiro, Aspiazu, Bârdeanu - Vibero.

ATLETICO tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Lineup: Chiappa - Sohier, Lundgaard - Waszczak, Ferrán López, Irarrazábal, Brenes, Selter - Dibáczy, Kedem, Torelli.

ATLETICO's O. Kedem was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 11 minutes. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, A. Mofolo scored for Vodka putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 18 minutes. ATLETICO levelled the score after 21 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as E. Dibáczy struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Vodka could have put themselves ahead after 27 minutes but D. Zimmermann missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. ATLETICO had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs C. Mota found it hard to get back into position. ATLETICO had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 60 minutes in when K. Selter came up alone against J. Osorio Castro who managed a block. Vodka made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left C. Mota completely alone with keeper L. Chiappa, who made a spectacular block. The sun seemed to put E. Dibáczy in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. Vodka broke through on the left 73 minutes into the game, with Y. Hulin firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. P. Vibero wanted to play on, but the Vodka coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 74 minutes into the game by I. Nica. ATLETICO enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

The most dominating Vodka player was without a doubt S. Bârdeanu. On the other hand, I. Nica's play was disheartening. O. Kedem performed admirably for ATLETICO. T. Waszczak on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.
