Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for papichuloio. The referee showed papichuloio's J. Elieche the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A foul after 4 minutes resulted in a free kick. J. Tabin cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 - 0. After 21 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as papichuloio found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. A. Gaintza's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert A. Wirth was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for papichuloio. 1 - 1. papichuloio's A. Wirth got himself booked for a foul. The player down was D. Boero. The Alfred bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. Some things can only be learned through experience, and A. Moñino should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Alfred a goal with 38 minutes of the match played. Alfred took the lead 39 minutes in, as D. Boero broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. 41 minutes in, papichuloio appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Alfred, with 71 percent of the ball.

A review of the gameplan helped papichuloio get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Alfred's À. Piris swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. papichuloio's counterattacks created a good chance for S. Saemann on the right after 53 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. A great save by keeper M. Saine after 62 minutes kept the visitors in the game after J. Llorente struck from the left with a real cannonball. Alfred's O. Vúndev increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 78 minutes. Alfred increased the lead as D. Boero struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 82 minutes into the game, papichuloio seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. 83 minutes into the match, papichuloio's A.
