previous 3/10 next 5/10  Sylow 6 - 0 Olimpica (382889892)

Clear skies welcomed the 34740 spectators who had made their way to Stramberk. Walter Glaser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Manuel Caleri and Thimo Renes. Sylow had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Muriach - Quiroga, Arrufat, Escorza - Guitarra, Amichai, Frigole, Couso, Dalmau - Cenarruza, Tarradellas.

Olimpica started off with a 3-4-2 lineup. Starters: Polini - Tienza, Silverkvist, Taverinier - Sulák, Blasco, Dao, Janeiro - Hartzfeld, Esquinas.

The wings were the focus of most of Sylow's attacks today. The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 21 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Sylow fans erupted in celebration as B. Tarradellas rifled the ball into the the top corner. 1 - 0! After 22 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Olimpica found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. E. Couso should probably have put his team up another goal after 25 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by M. Polini kept the visitors in the game. M. Janeiro of Olimpica received a yellow card after 29 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Sylow had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. After 36 minutes, I. Dalmau put Sylow ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Sylow's R. Escorza refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 38 minutes. Sylow's A. Amichai was shown a yellow card after 39 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 40 minutes, Sylow did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, P. Frigole was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Sylow were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. A great save by keeper M. Polini after 42 minutes kept the visitors in the game after Ó. Guitarra struck from the left with a real cannonball. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Ó. Guitarra from Sylow a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 43 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was 3 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Sylow, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Olimpica had solid organisation. In the lead, Sylow adjusted their style of play with 46 minutes gone. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Sylow coach let A. Campaner replace R. Escorza after 57 minutes. Sylow's B. Tarradellas put in a disappointing effort on a penalty after 62 minutes, firing just wide of the goal. The coach of Sylow was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 68 minutes, L. Suárez came on for A. Amichai. Ó. Arrufat was handed the Sylow captain's armband. Given a free kick close to the byline, Sylow tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let P. Frigole slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 4 - 0, 72 minutes into the game. 76 minutes into the game, Olimpica seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. Sylow put in a good effort on the right, but Ó. Arrufat saw his volley fly wide of the mark 79 minutes into the game. The Sylow free kick 83 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of I. Cenarruza, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 5 - 0! After 84 minutes Sylow's P. Frigole contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Players in Sylow heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. E. Couso increased the lead for Sylow to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Sylow had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.

Sylow's top performer was clearly I. Dalmau. X. Muriach on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Olimpica player was without a doubt E. Esquinas. On the other hand, T. Sulák's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 0.
