Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 46868 to
Municipal Reverendo O´Hara.
Lorenzo Ottone was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Artemi Troya Zamudio and
Anders Falkstål.
SGU had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
Starters: Roberto - Desio, Castaldo - Conde, Tscharf, Lungu, Sprânceană, Tut - Vammen, Obidowski, Diegel.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Castilla.
The following players had been chosen: Huelves - Zambrano, Cascos, Bernal, Jagals - Ubera, Pérez, García Viñas - Di Quirico, Swiwssi, Parma.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Castilla.
Many thought
A. Lungu ought to have been awarded a penalty 2 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
E. Huelves after a determined run through the middle.
The bicycle kick from
F. Di Quirico would have been the Goal of the Year for Castilla, had it not hit the post.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
M. Diegel scored for SGU putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 38 minutes.
The head of
J. Swiwssi connected with a corner kick after 39 minutes, and the ball ended up with
E. Ubera of Castilla who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 1.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
A. Sprânceană, but the SGU player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1!
With 40 minutes played,
C. Conde of SGU fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of SGU to 3 - 1 as
S. Vammen finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
After 43 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
S. Vammen gave the SGU supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
After a short break after 44 minutes, SGU seemed to change their tactical approach a bit.
The SGU coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 44 minutes into the game.
The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by SGU, with 62 percent of the ball.
The bench was restless, and with 51 minutes passed Castilla's coach gave
G. Salcedo the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
B. Cascos reluctantly left the field.
A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 61 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but
E. Huelves got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar.
75 minutes into the game, SGU seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
S. Desio could have increased the lead after 76 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
F. Bernal of Castilla was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
81 minutes into the game, Castilla seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
weak.
With 85 minutes played,
C. Conde could have brought this one home for SGU as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
86 minutes into the game, SGU had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
weak.
S. Obidowski left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 88 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
R. Ruiz was the replacement.
Possession in this half belonged to SGU, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
S. Vammen performed admirably for SGU.
On the other hand,
A. Lungu's play was disheartening.
Most important Castilla player was
F. Di Quirico.
G. Salcedo was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
