previous 5/10 next 7/10  Atl. 5 - 1 Tacuense (382891845)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 49802 to Multiusos de San Lázaro. Odd Bekken was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ferdynand Faliński and Gijs Jorritsma. Atl. had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. The following players took the field: Erdağ - Kallström, Frechilla - Cesarczyk, Jørgensen, García Carpintero, Aldenhoven, Aleksandrov - Edendahl, Brüll, Rakonczai.

Tacuense tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Nedeljković - García Peñuela, Cecchinato, Densborn, Haase - Corbu, Serrano, Toledo, Santos-Kilger - Valero Giménez, Habsterdick.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Tacuense. After 17 minutes of play, B. Jørgensen gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. M. Rakonczai squirmed through their central defence after 25 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Atl. were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Atl.'s J. Brüll increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 34 minutes. After 38 minutes Atl.'s B. Jørgensen contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. B. Nedeljković caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass - but unfortunately P. Corbu was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Rakonczai got himself booked. The manager of Atl. was not happy. Atl.'s P. Edendahl had an excellent opportunity after 41 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! Atl. increased the lead as R. García Carpintero struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Atl. had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

Atl.'s B. Jørgensen saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 86 minutes. J. Serrano knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 4 - 1 after 87 minutes. Atl. solidified their lead at the 89 minute mark, as J. Brüll dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1. Atl. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.

Atl.'s best player was M. Rakonczai. However, T. Aleksandrov made a disastrous appearance. J. Serrano performed admirably for Tacuense. B. Nedeljković on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 1.
