previous 10/10 next 2/10  Pirrins 0 - 1 Clockwork (382892571)

41000 punters turned up at Natividad Stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Louis de Zwart was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Johan Westerstedt and Rainis Murd. The derby had been the talk of Madrid all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Pirrins decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Aganzo - Coto, Sousa, Cucalo - Cristovão, Ancesa, González Blanco, Osetia, Gecaj - Torroja, Gusmeris.

Clockwork tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. Lineup: Cortada - Ruiz Mejía, Villafranca, Diego, Niţescu, Espluga - Domènech, Nae, Mudinho, Edígoraz - Muñoz.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Clockwork. A foul called during a Clockwork counterattack resulted in a great chance to score, but E. Muñoz's shot rattled off the post. Clockwork's P. Diego could have put the guests one up after 31 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but R. Aganzo was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pirrins, with 54 percent of the ball.

A. Osetia received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 52 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. C. Villafranca of Clockwork seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by E. Muñoz. E. Cucalo charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Pirrins, but the shot went well wide of the goal. 71 minutes in, Pirrins's P. Coto received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Clockwork's V. Niţescu was shown a yellow card after 77 minutes for slicing down an opponent. X. Domènech wanted to play on, but the Clockwork coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 87 minutes into the game by C. Tejada. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Clockwork coach let P. Vadillo replace E. Muñoz after 88 minutes. J. Mudinho was handed the Clockwork captain's armband. The Clockwork players could smell victory in the air. B. Nae wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for L. Freiherr von Hammerstein-Loxten after 89 minutes. Pirrins enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

The most dominating Pirrins player was without a doubt G. Sousa. F. Cristovão was a disappointment, however. Clockwork's best player was R. Edígoraz. However, P. Diego made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 1.
