AG 1 - 2 Figus
(382893376)

25-08-2012 14.00
Clear skies welcomed the 36000 spectators who had made their way to
santoral.
Rino Sutamto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Dennis Eggborg and
Wolf Collet.
AG tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Cònsul - Veledar, Arnea, Leary, De La Torre Ugarte - Castelló, Marañon, Burgos, Yorgan - Van Beversluys, Ezquerdo.
Figus started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
They fielded: Alfonso - Llordella, Mila, Biondaro, Gregić, Almela - Illera, Sangrador, Käsnänen - Forestier, Gacon.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of AG.
Figus clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
The guests took the lead 12 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
T. Gregić scoring to make it 0 - 1.
17 minutes into the game, Figus seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
solid.
AG's
A. Castelló was shown a yellow card after 26 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
With 42 minutes played, after a good run down the left,
E. Leary went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving.
43 minutes into the game,
A. Yorgan came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
43 minutes in, Figus's
J. Llordella received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
AG claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
The Figus players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 52 minutes, Figus did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
J. Almela was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 2.
After this, you could see that the players of Figus were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
AG had a brilliant opportunity to reply as
J. De La Torre Ugarte received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only
P. Alfonso's reflexes saved him.
A counterattack by Figus after 68 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
R. Forestier, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
72 minutes had been played and the home team was awarded a penalty. The guests' keeper dived the right way, but
A. Yorgan was still able to reduce the score to 1 - 2.
The game was close to savage at times, and Figus's
J. Llordella received a second yellow card after 78 minutes; his ticket out of the game.
Possession in this half belonged to AG, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
A. Yorgan performed admirably for AG.
J. De La Torre Ugarte was a disappointment, however.
Figus's top performer was clearly
L. Gacon.
On the other hand,
P. Biondaro's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 2.
