previous 10/10 next 2/10  blaugrana 2 - 1 matracos (382893873)

The 36710 spectators at Galaxia blaugrana Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Miroslav Egić was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Domingo Ridao and Dimitry Pister. blaugrana had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Zawiszewski - Svold, Cendan, Bango - Mustafa, Sotelo, Goia, Ruckinger, Berthold - Mušan, Sädelahti.

matracos started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Miró - Valenzuela Núñez, Buscalque, Draper - Roi, Callar, Recasens, Colinas, Påske - Adamczak, Vergara.

matracos tried to focus their attacks down the middle. F. Påske sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from J. Valenzuela Núñez after 3 minutes of play, making the score 0 - 1. R. Colinas was, after 6 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper M. Zawiszewski made the save. The home crowd cheered when, after 11 minutes, R. Colinas's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile E. Callar. blaugrana had to make a substitution after 17 minutes. H. Ruckinger limped off the field and was replaced by M. Robert. With 23 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, M. Robert needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. matracos had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

The bench was restless, and with 48 minutes passed blaugrana's coach gave J. Eggenkamp the opportunity the player had been hoping for. S. Mustafa reluctantly left the field. A penalty was missed by matracos's J. Valenzuela Núñez 58 minutes into the match. Probably overconfident, he blasted a hard shot miles outside of the left post. 74 minutes into the match, blaugrana's A. Sädelahti maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. They were singing the praises of V. Mušan 81 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to blaugrana. Possession in this half belonged to matracos, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

blaugrana's top performer was clearly V. Mušan. M. Bango on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important matracos player was B. Vergara. C. Adamczak turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
