Dark skies made the crowd of 52356 at
El Jeringuilla Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Žanis Lahančiks was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Beau Rockx and
Thomas Siebert.
Colorines had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Vianello - Focşa, van Randwijck, Haagsman - Bajlović, Mihele, Song, Reyntjens, Angelov - Aaby, Hainrich.
wisvod tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Yanguas - Dendas, Viqueira, Guebide, Jiménez - Díaz de Garato, Içmez, Collell, Eleicigui, Wekking - Puustjärvi.
It seemed as though Colorines considered the game won before even taking the field, which resulted in a very uninspired start to the game.
It was an obvious ambition of wisvod to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
19 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
J. Díaz de Garato, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
D. Mihele gave Colorines the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
Colorines were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 28 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
J. Aaby. 2 - 0 for the home side.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Colorines lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
34 minutes into the game, Colorines were awarded a penalty that
J. Aaby turned into 3 - 0 without a problem.
With 35 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
P. Viqueira needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
37 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as
P. Viqueira anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 3 - 1.
C. Song could have put Colorines up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 39 minutes.
3 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Colorines, with 52 percent of the ball.
With 60 minutes played, the wisvod coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
D. Lequerica came on,
L. Içmez had to leave the fray.
Colorines's
L. Hainrich saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 75 minutes.
With 79 minutes played, Colorines put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
R. van Randwijck, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Colorines claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
L. Hainrich performed admirably for Colorines.
On the other hand,
R. van Randwijck's play was disheartening.
The most dominating wisvod player was without a doubt
J. Eleicigui.
L. Yanguas turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
