Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 30266 to
LOS CHICHARROS.
Günther Kalning was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sebastião Granjeiro and
Corné Sauren.
MIKIKOMORI started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Szigeti - Hafenscher, Frattini, Hurtado - Bosker, Ventrella, Tiihala, Kaubert, Salazar - Shischenko, Dattomi.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Villarreal.
The following players took the field: Coffman - Kabanchuk, Ivarsson, Vázquez - Elorio, Carracedo, Rivero Angulo, Lambiasi, Portabales - Martínez Rubio, Cabrero.
S. Kaubert caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 19 minutes. This gave MIKIKOMORI the 1 - 0 lead.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of MIKIKOMORI to 2 - 0 as
C. Salazar finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
The visitors replied 24 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as
U. Lambiasi dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
With 25 minutes played, MIKIKOMORI's
G. Dattomi almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
MIKIKOMORI's
L. Shischenko increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 29 minutes.
By now, the players in MIKIKOMORI felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Halftime score was 3 - 1.
MIKIKOMORI enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
G. Frattini neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
E. Hafenscher who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
After 52 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
G. Dattomi might have resulted in another goal for MIKIKOMORI. However,
K. Coffman made a spectacular save.
55 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
N. Bosker broke through, making the score 4 - 1 for MIKIKOMORI.
Possession in this half belonged to MIKIKOMORI, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
The most dominating MIKIKOMORI player was without a doubt
L. Shischenko.
However,
N. Bosker made a disastrous appearance.
Villarreal's best player was
M. Martínez Rubio.
On the other hand,
K. Coffman's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
