The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 37624 had shown up at Caldera Arena for the match. Hélder Eanes was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ambrosio Niblick and Kjell Öhrwald. Chicharril had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Starters: Mendoza - Cabilla, Vello, Tartarin - Palacín, Reuille, Pablo Pérez, Rodrigues Neto - Aleman, Parrilla, Elezgueta.

Rullus tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Santoro - Aantjes, Sobeck, Opriţescu - Carnevale, Mar Zueros, Gragnani, Boudier, Cuns - Schifano, Lis.

Chicharril were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. The visiting A. Gragnani was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 11 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Chicharril's B. Cabilla was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 13 minutes. After 25 minutes of play, J. Elezgueta evened things up for Chicharril with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. 28 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but F. Schifano, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. After 29 minutes, Rullus put themselves up 1 - 2, as R. Lis finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Chicharril had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

D. Boudier left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. J. Norris was the replacement. Chicharril put pressure on the visitors' central defence 51 minutes into the game, but C. Aleman couldn't find an opening. With 57 minutes played, S. Aantjes of Rullus fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 58 minutes into the match, Chicharril's C. Aleman maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 2 - 2. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 68 minutes allowed A. Gragnani to score for Rullus. The scoreboard now read 2 - 3. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Rullus coach let E. Izaurralde replace E. Carnevale after 75 minutes. A. Gragnani was handed the Rullus captain's armband. B. Sobeck received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 75 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 2 - 4. The Rullus fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Chicharril's C. Aleman had the ball at his feet in front of goal after a quickly taken free kick after 78 minutes, but was robbed of it in the blink of an eye by an onrushing defender. Chicharril's T. Pablo Pérez managed a superb strike from the left after 81 minutes that would have left goalkeeper G. Santoro without a chance, had it not hit the post. Chicharril enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

T. Pablo Pérez performed admirably for Chicharril. J. Palacín was a disappointment, however. Most important Rullus player was R. Lis. S. Aantjes on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 4.
