07-07-2012 14.00
26103 punters turned up at
Bolsón Cerrado, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Jan-Ulrich Gras was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Geoffroy Verlinden and
Uwe Gundacker.
Comarca had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Darmon - Di Maria, Šugar, Birkholc - Heldring, Batan, Wallau, Gkavoyiannos, Hunze - Soini, Feichtner.
Vulcan tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Carisch - Piña, Kainonen, Díaz de Abadillo - Moltó, Lahovc, Medeot, Tortosa, Lakhmawi - Fàbregas, Salinas.
Making his way up the middle 2 minutes into the match,
J. Soini almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
D. Carisch blocked it to keep the score level.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
J. Wallau from Comarca a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 5 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
D. Moltó was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Vulcan's
V. Stanojević had to come off the bench.
Comarca took the lead after 26 minutes as a result of
J. Soini's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
Comarca's
Ł. Birkholc got himself booked for a foul.
With 31 minutes played, Comarca's
J. Soini almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Comarca, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
After 51 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
I. Šugar gave the Comarca supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
The referee showed Vulcan's
V. Stanojević the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Comarca, as
I. Šugar left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
S. Rovatti took his place on the field.
Comarca managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
C. Gkavoyiannos cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Vulcan's opponents know to be wary of
C. Lakhmawi's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 82 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
With 86 minutes played,
J. Soini could have brought this one home for Comarca as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Comarca scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
A. Hunze after 87 minutes.
Comarca enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Comarca's top performer was clearly
C. Gkavoyiannos.
D. Feichtner was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Vulcan player was without a doubt
M. Salinas.
D. Carisch on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 0.
