(382940004)

28-07-2012 14.00
A scorching day at
The Sanitarium, where 41740 spectators were in place for today's match.
Giovanni Trevelin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tobias Wien and
Radomír Lichvár.
VelleS started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Ataide - Maña, Carbó, Colomer - Espinar, Belda, Arnaldo, Rius, Garrido Abiétar - Ramos, Lobo Heras.
Vendetta had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Samolovov - Molina, 寬遥 (Kuanyao) , Lacalle Rubio - García, bin Din, Pires, Sollova, Stoichkov - Clavijo, Kraljić.
For their match strategy, Vendetta had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
8 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for VelleS was
A. Arnaldo.
VelleS put themselves up 2 - 0 when
J. Colomer broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
M. Ramos was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
S. Garrido Abiétar, but the ball bounced off the post to safety.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Lobo Heras broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to VelleS.
VelleS had to make a substitution after 37 minutes.
J. Colomer limped off the field and was replaced by
P. Morales.
It was 3 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by VelleS, with 60 percent of the ball.
VelleS's
J. Espinar was shown a yellow card after 58 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
VelleS increased the lead as
P. Lobo Heras struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
H. Stoichkov's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
F. Clavijo was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Vendetta. 4 - 1.
Vendetta had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 75 minutes, but
M. Kraljić's shot from the left sailed high over the bar.
After 80 minutes, VelleS were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
J. Espinar did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
The bicycle kick from
S. Garrido Abiétar would have been the Goal of the Year for VelleS, had it not hit the post.
VelleS claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
VelleS's best player was
J. Ataide.
However,
G. Carbó made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Vendetta player was without a doubt
E. Sollova.
V. Samolovov was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
