previous 4/10 next 6/10  VelleS 2 - 2 BrainWave (382940013)

43635 spectators arrived at The Sanitarium, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Mark Hasslinger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ferdinand Fraß and Marco Gentile. VelleS decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Ataide - Maña, Carbó, Colomer - Espinar, Belda, García, Rius, Garrido Abiétar - Ramos, Lobo Heras.

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for BrainWave. Starters: Mila - Donís, Forget, Verhage - de Roock, Borghgraef, Vasile, Culebras - Flos, Traba, Moniri.

BrainWave seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. BrainWave had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 11 minutes in when H. Traba came up alone against J. Ataide who managed a block. They were singing the praises of S. Garrido Abiétar 17 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to VelleS. After 30 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after H. Traba made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when R. Flos slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against J. Ataide, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. After 51 minutes VelleS's M. Belda contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The terraces were silenced after 67 minutes when BrainWave's R. Flos put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. After 73 minutes of play, J. Colomer equalised for VelleS after an elegant attack from the right. BrainWave claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

J. Ataide performed admirably for VelleS. However, V. García made a disastrous appearance. BrainWave's best player was A. Culebras. F. Verhage was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
