Clear skies welcomed the 29021 spectators who had made their way to Sehnsucht Arena. Borys Nepiypyvo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Isaac Grimalda and Huong Vu. RCF had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Rippe - Froreich, Melojo, Bocco - Bucciol, Gâdea, Åhbratt, Muçaj, Grime - Menken, Kovalchuk.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Bocadillo. The following players took the field: Jarcău - Kang, Sandahl, Serrano - Gorączko, Liz, Muckerwitz, Arraiz, Cailleau - da Ibia, Suárez.

They were singing the praises of A. Melojo 2 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to RCF. After 26 minutes, B. Serrano sent the corner kick right to B. Liz who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1! RCF had a good opportunity to take the lead as D. Muçaj came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of C. Jarcău. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Bocadillo's E. Cailleau after 34 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. RCF had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

A. Melojo made a superb strike after 58 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. J. Rippe got a fingertip on P. Suárez's shot from the left 60 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for RCF, but P. Åhbratt's shot went over the bar. After 67 minutes, A. Melojo made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2. B. Liz of Bocadillo was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Bocadillo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

RCF's top performer was clearly A. Kovalchuk. A. Froreich was a disappointment, however. M. Arraiz performed admirably for Bocadillo. On the other hand, E. Cailleau's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 2.
