14-07-2012 14.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 30675 at
Font d'en Titus today.
Eduard Vaidla was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Scott Clancy and
Yakov Vasiliev.
SJ decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Fay - Maury, Úrculo, Ucero - Ceballos-Zuñiga, Muntada, Weser, Landahl, Haj-Akram - Gomucio, Cameselle.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Bordeta.
The following players had been chosen: Seregni - Pettersson, Steinberg, Hasselmar - Simion, Caridade, Pangua, Harnois, Medina Aparicio - Skaisgiris, Nádasdy.
Š. Skaisgiris had a good opportunity to give Bordeta the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save.
SJ could have put themselves ahead after 29 minutes but
M. Weser missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 34 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
E. Landahl, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
It was 1 - 0 at the break.
SJ enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
D. Muntada could have put SJ up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 54 minutes.
After 55 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
B. Haj-Akram might have resulted in another goal for SJ. However,
G. Seregni made a spectacular save.
M. Weser could have increased the lead after 56 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
SJ's
B. Haj-Akram left the field after 59 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
M. Rubí.
G. Ceballos-Zuñiga became the new SJ captain.
The visiting team's
A. Nádasdy was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 74 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right.
After 75 minutes,
M. Rubí came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving SJ the lead.
82 minutes into the game Bordeta's
Š. Skaisgiris found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 2 - 2.
SJ claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
The most dominating SJ player was without a doubt
E. Cameselle.
M. Rubí turned in a dismal performance, however.
Bordeta's best player was
H. Caridade.
M. Medina Aparicio was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 2.
