It had rained all day, but 23363 hardy fans still made it out to Canelo Arena. Siegbert Weiss was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Maurizio Stasi and Niccolò Ghislanzoni. Kvarme of Genfis took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 4 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2. After 27 minutes, Genfis raised their score by one when V. Kirsh's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by M. Løvenkrands. 0 - 3. 33 minutes into the game, M. Løvenkrands had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came T. Garcia. R. Zawiślak received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 37 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Genfis fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave V. Kirsh from Genfis a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 0 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Genfis, with 59 percent of the ball.

47 minutes into the match, R. Zawiślak came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Canelo's M. Barrobés managed a superb strike from the left after 53 minutes that would have left goalkeeper R. Siąkała without a chance, had it not hit the post. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when R. Alguersuari scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 1 - 4. Genfis's T. Garcia was shown a yellow card after 58 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The player down was R. Tortolero. The Canelo bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. Canelo didn't give in and with 60 minutes played D. Domenech was able to make the score 2 - 4 after an attack on the right. After 75 minutes, Canelo switched D. Domenech with E. Remia, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. With the clock showing 78 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Canelo resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by L. Azañón in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. With 81 minutes played, the Canelo coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. J. Camoens came on, M. Quintavalla had to leave the fray. Genfis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating Canelo player was without a doubt R. Alguersuari. On the other hand, J. Løver's play was disheartening. Genfis's top performer was clearly R. Zawiślak. R. Siąkała was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 4.
