previous 6/10 next 8/10  Xtreme 2 - 0 Santander (382958874)

21164 spectators had come to Marc LXIX Stadium this cloudy day. Geoffroy Hugues was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erwin Nemeth and Ernesto Elizalde. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Xtreme. The following players had been chosen: Gulnev - Camariñas, Michelsen, Amilibia - Sumalla, Vertongen, Brčić, Falaschi, La Malfa - Gürbüz, Malengreaux.

Santander had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Canellas - Radzicki, Cama, Leiva, Randolph - Talsi, Mateus, Guethler, Font, Lindegger - Cadavedo.

Xtreme created a good opportunity to score 2 minutes into the match when V. Falaschi's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Xtreme took the lead after 3 minutes as a result of R. Camariñas's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. P. Cadavedo came close to levelling the score 6 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. After 9 minutes, Xtreme's S. Gürbüz found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2 - 0. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Xtreme, with 51 percent of the ball.

Xtreme's L. Amilibia swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The coach of Xtreme was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 55 minutes, P. Cegastia came on for J. Malengreaux. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed Santander's coach gave G. Ricci the opportunity the player had been hoping for. F. Mateus reluctantly left the field. M. Vertongen left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. F. Tranquilo was the replacement. 70 minutes into the game Xtreme managed a counterattack, but S. Gürbüz took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. Santander's S. Talsi's long shot really ought to have found the net 72 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. After 75 minutes, following yet another great corner, P. Cegastia's flick on at the near post reached F. Sumalla, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. Xtreme had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Xtreme's top performer was clearly R. Camariñas. However, E. Gulnev made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Santander player was without a doubt P. Cadavedo. P. Radzicki turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
