At the beginning of the game, Deusto appeared to have already taken this victory to the bank. After 3 minutes of play, T. Tokan gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. 27 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as A. Intxausti broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Deusto. By now, the players in Deusto felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. A. Intxausti squirmed through their central defence after 32 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The referee showed Deusto's S. Kollment the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Deusto put themselves up 4 - 0 when R. Jaico broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Deusto, with 51 percent of the ball.

Coming from the right, S. Kollment almost managed to score another goal for Deusto, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 63 minutes into the game Peña managed a counterattack, but D. Hörler took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. D. Hörler had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. Deusto solidified their lead at the 77 minute mark, as R. Jaico dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0. After a savage shot that could only be parried by the keeper, D. Hörler demonstrated his experience by being in just the right place to slot home the rebound. His goal for Peña 82 minutes into the match made the score 5 - 1. A well placed corner kick from A. Iaquinta was followed by L. Neves Correia's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Peña, the score now 5 - 2. Deusto's A. Fougerouse was shown a yellow card after 86 minutes for slicing down an opponent. N. Spicci was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Peña's T. Nielsen had to come off the bench. After 88 minutes, A. Iaquinta replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 5 - 3. Deusto put in a good effort on the right, but T. Ferradas saw his volley fly wide of the mark 89 minutes into the game. Deusto had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The most dominating Deusto player was without a doubt T. Ferradas. However, E. Eihbeck made a disastrous appearance. Most important Peña player was J. Calzón. I. Gutić turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 3.
