Dark skies made the crowd of 19327 at Nuevo Arcangel a little nervous, but the rain held off. Thomas Bundgaard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marijón Erlingsson and Pierre Blanquet. Córdoba decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Spartans. The following players took the field: Březina - Ciućka, Roíz, Albrecht, Nieves, Gildenmeister - Conci, Miarons, Prates, Sekerák - Ellenrieder.

Spartans saw most attack opportunities on the wings. R. Arte fired a shot from distance after 23 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Córdoba. Córdoba's R. den Heijer was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 24 minutes. 32 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Córdoba to take the lead after a good cross from the right found M. Götterup-Tang alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. 39 minutes in, Córdoba appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. 40 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Córdoba was R. den Heijer. C. Blanco could have increased the lead after 42 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. The home crowd was dismayed when the referee called a penalty for Spartans after 43 minutes. D. Sekerák calmly took the shot and scored. The game was level at 1 - 1. 43 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but D. Sekerák, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Córdoba claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

During the break, Córdoba's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. The guests almost went up by a goal after 49 minutes when A. Roíz came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to H. Winger, but the Córdoba player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! Córdoba had to make a substitution after 65 minutes. R. Arte limped off the field and was replaced by A. Varga. M. Götterup-Tang had a fantastic opportunity to put Córdoba up another goal 68 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The incalculable A. Gajewicz of Córdoba did everything right as he set up M. Götterup-Tang for a goal after 69 minutes. Unfortunately, the strike missed its target. A well-executed free kick by M. Goláez after 71 minutes made it 3 - 1 for Córdoba. Córdoba had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating Córdoba player was without a doubt F. Di Dio. However, S. da Fonseca made a disastrous appearance. Most important Spartans player was H. Gildenmeister. J. Březina on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 1.
