16-06-2012 15.00
Due to an all-day shower, 17846 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
El nuevo gasometro.
Hans Wallholt was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rudolf Zaruba and
Cristi Mincu.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Galicia derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
FCPM tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Mäkitupa - Sietes, Filbà, Friess - Martínez Vara, Drienyovszky, Hoytema, Sever, Loroño - Vinkeles, Cloots.
Trufis decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
They fielded: Campitelli - Szmulski, Solano, Szubert, Simpson - Raja-aho, Haase, Rengifo, Limar, Sagastizabal - Yarritu.
FCPM clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
H. Haase slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
A badly positioned defensive formation on a free kick after 25 minutes led to Trufis's
A. Szubert giving the visitors the lead 0 - 1.
FCPM players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for FCPM, but
J. Vinkeles's shot went over the bar.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Trufis claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Trufis goal after 59 minutes, making it 0 - 2.
A. Yarritu was noted down as the scorer.
M. Solano had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today.
FCPM didn't give in and with 87 minutes played
R. Sever was able to make the score 1 - 2 after an attack on the right.
FCPM's
A. Drienyovszky made a successful breakthrough on the left after 88 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar.
The referee signalled a penalty 89 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
A. Szubert knocked it home to make the score 1 - 3.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Trufis, with 55 percent of the ball.
The most dominating FCPM player was without a doubt
J. Sietes.
S. Martínez Vara turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Trufis player was
H. Haase.
However,
K. Szmulski made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 3.
