(382966023)

16-06-2012 15.00
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 25390 that came out to
Comanell Arena.
Brix Geschwendtner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ulrich Hans Vonhof and
Son Tô.
The derby had been the talk of
Catalunya all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
Kickers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Habaru - Vázquez, Fernández, Kohut - Qasim, Gulías, Bíró, Díez, Carra - Mata, Miro.
Poble tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Branddahl - Ziółkowski, Loucoumis, Maset - Cassadó, Fontcuberta, Sallent, Santelices, Turrà - Manzano, Verlee.
After 3 minutes of play,
L. Vázquez gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
P. Verlee enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
After 23 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
J. Mata gave the Kickers supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
Kickers put themselves up 3 - 0 when
A. Miro broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Confident in their lead, Kickers's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
P. Fernández received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 36 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
It was 3 - 0 at the break.
Poble enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
With 46 minutes played, the Poble coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
T. Devecchi came on,
A. Manzano had to leave the fray.
The coach of Kickers was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
I. Vande Sande came on for
A. Bíró.
The away team improved the scoreline to 3 - 1, as
À. Cassadó struck home, set up well by a play on the left 67 minutes into the match.
A. Díez wanted to play on, but the Kickers coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
R. Varanda.
72 minutes in, Kickers's
A. Qasim received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
The crowd gasped as
P. Fernández of Kickers was flattened by an opponent after 72 minutes and had to be carried off.
S. Zaydan came in off the bench.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 73 minutes, Poble did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
C. Fontcuberta was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Poble, with 51 percent of the ball.
Kickers's top performer was clearly
R. Varanda.
L. Carra was a disappointment, however.
Most important Poble player was
Q. Sallent.
On the other hand,
À. Cassadó's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 2.
