Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 14897 at
barralillo team Arena today.
Martin Alexander Wattenscheid was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Basile Sabas and
Alessandro Benvegnù.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for barralillo.
The following players had been chosen: Disler - Rosiecki, Zoppellaro, Mncebisi - Pissot, Pezzarossa, Auffret, Kopfer, Kašpárek - Braatz, Torres Cabrera.
Winterfell tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Díaz - Navarro Soto, Ovando Solis, Mateos Romero - Salazar Murillo, Zuazo Bernabeu, Pellón, Hoyos, Gauca - Cociña, Momediano.
barralillo took a creative approach on the field.
Winterfell saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
At 4 minutes played,
V. Pissot came in from the right with the intention of giving barralillo the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
Players in Winterfell heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
A foul after 22 minutes resulted in a free kick.
K. Rosiecki cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 - 0.
After 23 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
M. Salazar Murillo.
After 24 minutes, Winterfell put themselves up 1 - 2, as
J. Ovando Solis finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Winterfell were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
With 30 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
A. Pellón of Winterfell to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 3.
1 - 3 was the halftime score.
Winterfell had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
The corner kick from
T. Momediano was powerfully met by the head of
R. Hoyos to make the score 1 - 4.
By now, the players in Winterfell felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Winterfell had a magnificent opportunity after 63 minutes as
T. Momediano hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide.
The Winterfell free kick 72 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
R. Hoyos, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 5!
The home team's supporters got excited again when
A. Braatz broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 2 - 5.
The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
K. Rosiecki tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
J. Díaz was too alert for that!
Winterfell enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
A. Braatz performed admirably for barralillo.
M. Auffret was a disappointment, however.
Most important Winterfell player was
A. Pellón.
On the other hand,
J. Díaz's play was disheartening.
The match ends 2 - 5.
