It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 36813 that came out to
LAGRIMAS DE SAN LORENZO.
Lars Håkansson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jelmer Weening and
Mats Håkansson.
SUSVAISACAGAR tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Belardinelli - Sancristóbal, Sperandio, Platvoet, Păunică - Spengemann, Sütçüoğlu, Porter, Hägergård - Wagner, Zlatňanský.
ASESINOS decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Starters: Fornells - Serocki, Svenningsen - Cristea, Martínez Castro, Valenzuela Serrano, Balada, Ribera - Villaño, Erez, Melo Souza.
SUSVAISACAGAR were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
The wings were the focus of most of ASESINOS's attacks today.
5 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for SUSVAISACAGAR was
L. Zlatňanský.
A well-executed free kick by
V. Wagner after 13 minutes made it 2 - 0 for SUSVAISACAGAR.
B. Belardinelli made a brilliant save 21 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from
Z. Melo Souza on the right hand side.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
N. Erez wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 52 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
G. Martínez Castro completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper.
G. Martínez Castro neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
P. Svenningsen who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
SUSVAISACAGAR managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
V. Wagner cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
With 65 minutes played, ASESINOS's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
N. Erez he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 1.
The visitors replied 70 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 3 - 2, as
N. Erez dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as ASESINOS's
A. Villaño put the ball in the onion bag after 76 minutes to make it 3 - 3.
ASESINOS's opponents know to be wary of
S. Cristea's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 81 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 82 minutes that gave the visitors the 3 - 4 lead. Despite the controversy,
S. Cristea struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
ASESINOS claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
SUSVAISACAGAR's best player was
S. Sperandio.
On the other hand,
S. Păunică's play was disheartening.
A. Villaño performed admirably for ASESINOS.
R. Serocki on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 4.
