28-07-2012 15.00
21800 spectators arrived at
Riazor, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Cosimo Interdonato was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Roland Sebastian and
Jack Molvik.
Asakobako decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Abellón - Zenge, Ibaizábal, Mihăescu - Legati, Salinas, Valero, Hörndler, Neuhauser - Lazaga, Barbón.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Dantooine.
Lineup: Jašek - Jarík, Wissmann, Femerling - Wanke, Di Baldo, Valen, Rivarola, Daniels - Putter, Castelberg.
Asakobako used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
Dantooine were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Asakobako took the lead after 5 minutes as a result of
R. Neuhauser's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
After 13 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
L. Legati gave the Asakobako supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
L. Putter of Dantooine seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 2 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
A. Rivarola.
L. Jarík made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
Dantooine claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Players in Dantooine heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
50 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 2 - 2 as
N. Wanke struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
Slack defending gave Asakobako a chance to take the lead with 52 minutes played, but
F. Barbón's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
Asakobako's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
Possession in this half belonged to Dantooine, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Asakobako's top performer was clearly
E. Abellón.
R. Ibaizábal turned in a dismal performance, however.
D. Di Baldo performed admirably for Dantooine.
On the other hand,
V. Jašek's play was disheartening.
The match ends 2 - 2.
