The 18047 spectators at ferrol f.c. Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. In a rapid move 15 minutes into the match, C. Rabiller of Estrella lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked R. Lendwith who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Estrella mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 36 minutes, but C. Fischbacher was unable to convert from short range. Halftime score was 0 - 1. ferrol claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

C. Rabiller received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 60 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Estrella fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. ferrol were awarded a penalty 63 minutes into the match and S. Guilbert fired the ball into the net to make the score 1 - 2. ferrol needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 69 minutes M. Zwaan made way for G. Reguero. With 73 minutes played, the ferrol coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. J. García Barberá came on, G. Girou had to leave the fray. The referee showed Estrella's F. Portales the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why C. Fischbacher found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. A. Viejo showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 86 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Olaguer from ferrol a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 87 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! J. Monzón's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Estrella, he bravely continued in the match. Coming in from the right, Estrella had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 89 minutes, but C. Rabiller's attempt to finish was easily stopped. ferrol had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

ferrol's top performer was clearly J. Fleischmann. N. Jæger was a disappointment, however. C. Rabiller performed admirably for Estrella. On the other hand, F. Portales's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 2.
